On a day in the fall of 2004 I was driving my truck into town when all of a sudden the sound children’s laugher began ringing in my ears. I even turned down the radio to confirm what it was I was hearing. To this day I can’t explain it, the sound was so clear. I felt compelled I would try to capture it in an image that would best bring the sound I heard to life. When I returned home I went into my carving shed to find the antler that would best help me express what I heard earlier that day.
Two and a half years in the making, Can You Hear the Laughter was complete.
One of the greatest rewards of this carving is the people that tell me, “I can hear the laughter“.
