I tried to capture as much detail as possible in this small carving. Almost all of the intricacy was completed with dentistry drill bits and burrs. Given an up close look you will find a dog sleeping on the log made dock. There are three seats in the canoe and a half moon is carved into the door of the outhouse. An old wine barrel stands upright to collect rainwater while a set of moose antlers hang above the doorway from a successful hunt. The front door has a handle and the windows have panes. Cut logs are stacked at the side of the cabin and just a few steps away is the chopping block with the axe still stuck in the stump.
Somewhere in the forest lives a solitary being. They have everything anyone could ever want or need. There’s a log cabin for shelter, a sharp axe to cut and stockpile wood, an abundance of clean air, a sturdy canoe for transportation, and the outhouse is for you know what. Best of all? A dog, their companion, napping quietly on the dock
