I'm finding myself striving to capture more and more movement in my antler carvings. Maybe a moment in time that can tell a story. For those of us that have been fortunate enough to view the blue heron stalking its prey through the shallows, one can relate to the elegance of this beautiful bird in action.
The antler used to create the blue heron has only had the border of the antler stained slightly to enhance the scene within. The shades of white, brown and gray are natural hues.
To enter my imagination and understand my line of thinking when I carve you have to take everything into consideration. This isn't just a carving. Let us not forget the moose that wore this antler for an entire season, lets give some thought to the antler's growth, what it was exposed to, who found it, and the fact that it found its way into my hands to become what it is now...
